This body of work focuses on my collection of photographs that emulate the pure existence of individuals living in their environment. While studying the vas amount of people around New York I realized no matter the background of the individual, each person comes to disclose a certain sense of disillusionment. We live in a period where the state of our economy is at a downfall and the idea of the American dream is not attainable for many as it might have been in the past. The disconnection is shown physically, emotionally and psychologically. After photographing certain areas, over time I have become more aware of these environments and have gained an understanding of the different types of disconnections people are experiencing. People are at a lost point of existentialism, trying to discover what defines themselves at different points in their life. I hope to reveal an impression of the lost soul I find in these people due to their detachment from reality.
